Named after a castle located in Pembrokshire in Wales, built in the 11th Century

Became a minesweeper in WWII, and survived without damage after a mine exploded under the ship and lifted all 300 tons of her out of the water

Works with the South Pacific Region Environmental Program and delivers a variety of environmental course materials to schools in that vast area

Picton Castle started its fourth world voyage on May 29, 2005
